What it is
SAIL (Strategic AI Leadership) is the ALiF track for people who lead AI adoption in their organizations. It concentrates on two components, ETH (ethics and responsibility) and PRA (practical application), at L2 Intermediate to L3 Advanced.
ALiF documents describe it as project-based, taking about 40 to 50 hours, and covering:
- strategic AI implementation;
- AI governance;
- change management;
- community building.
Where it sits
SAIL follows the role pathways. The Implementation Pathway Model lists entry at L2 or above on the core profile together with a leadership role. The draft FAIM Clinician pathway describes a FAIM certificate in any track as the qualification for entry. SAIL completion is in turn a proposed prerequisite for the cross-role AI Governance track in PRIME.
Under the proposed ALiF 2.0 rule on decisions about individuals, self-assessment results should not decide entry, so entry is expected to rest on demonstrated evidence such as a completed pathway certificate.
Changes planned with ALiF 2.0
Leaders make many of the decisions that the Learning Conditions Statement asks organizations to report on: which tasks are automated, how supervision works, and whether people have learning time and a say. The ALiF 2.0 work plan therefore adds supervisor guidance and learning-conditions content to SAIL.
What is published
Module-level details of SAIL are not yet published on this site. They will be added as the track is revised for ALiF 2.0.
Versioning and alignment
SAIL follows the ALiF Program Versioning and Review Policy, keeps its own version number, and will state its alignment with ALiF 2.0.
